\u2013 The clear trend in white goods sales is that consumers are now increasingly choosing more high-performance products, which are also more energy efficient. Statistics clearly show that sales of white goods with the best energy class will continue in 2020 and that buyers of white goods place great importance on energy labeling and that it means a lot for product selection when purchasing, says Kent Oderud, chairman of APPLiA \u2013 Home Appliances Sweden.<\/p>\n

Refrigeration and freezing products are most important for reducing energy consumption in the home<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Refrigerators and freezers are the products with the greatest savings potential in the white goods area as these products are used 24\/7 all year round, but the industry is also seeing a strong shift in the product areas of dishwashers and washing machines, where the increase in the number of energy-efficient products sold is increasing by between 2-5 percentage points and almost all products sold have energy ratings equal to or better than A+.<\/p>\n

\u2013 The strong development of energy-efficient products in percentage terms shows that the European energy label has proven to be a successful combination of producers' efforts to develop more energy-efficient appliances and consumers' interest in saving energy, says Kent Oderud, chairman of APPLiA \u2013 Home Appliances Sweden.<\/p>\n

New Energy Labeling on March 1, 2021<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Manufacturers have so far driven the development towards more energy-efficient products much faster than the European energy label over the past 20 years. Now a new scale for the energy label is being established, returning to a pure letter scale of A to G without the possibility of a plus sign.<\/p>\n

The change on March 1, 2021 will mean, among other things, that today's A+++ energy rating could become a C, which means a further opportunity for even more energy-efficient products, which is positive from a sustainability perspective.<\/p>\n
