The tax, which was originally introduced to protect the environment, has instead led to negative consequences such as higher prices, increased trade in dangerous products by unscrupulous actors and a weakened Swedish competitiveness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>APPLiA, the Electronics Industry TechSverige, Swedish Trade, Technology Companies, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, the Computer Games Industry, Small Businesses and the Industry Association for Catering Suppliers are very concerned about how the report <em>On economic instruments to promote the transition to a circular economy <\/em>addresses the issue of a chemical tax on electronics (the electronics tax). The tax has proven ineffective as an environmental control tool and has received harsh criticism from the business community:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The tax creates a large administrative burden, disrupts the competitiveness of Swedish companies and leads to higher prices for consumers.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We propose that hazardous substances should be restricted or banned through intensified work within the EU or internationally, where it has a real impact without distorting the market.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We urge the government to abolish the electronics tax during the current term of office because it impairs the competitiveness of Swedish companies and makes it more expensive for Swedish consumers without providing any real environmental benefit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Skrivelse-elektronikskatten-Om-ekonomiska-styrmedel-2024-11-18.pdf\">Read the letter in its entirety<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APPLiA och \u00e5tta andra branschorganisationer uppmanar gemensamt regeringen att avskaffa elektronikskatten.
