This represents a decrease of two percent compared to 2023 when 28,817 apartments began construction.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Apartment buildings increase slightly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the apartments that have been started, approximately 22,600 are in apartment buildings, including special housing. This is one percent more than in the corresponding period in 2023. Preliminary, approximately 70 percent are rental apartments, which can be compared with 71 percent for 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Single-family homes down nine percent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of single-family homes started in 2024 amounted to 5,750 apartments, which is 9 percent fewer than in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"606\" height=\"226\" src=\"https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Minskad-nybyggnad_01.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1541887\" style=\"width:800px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Minskad-nybyggnad_01.png 606w, https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Minskad-nybyggnad_01-300x112.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Source: Statistics Sweden<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to previous years, total housing construction is at a low level, for example 50 percent below the figures from 2022.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>One step away from the bottom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the graph below shows, construction is currently at a rock bottom.
