Does anyone remember the colorful 1980s and 1990s, where the colors of white goods were anything but white! What about the creative color names that existed then, such as lion yellow, avocado green, ruby red or why not fancy fire yellow. At that time, this was called Televerks-orange among industry professionals (old Televerket service vehicles had this color)!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Vegas sets trends<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But now we have started 2025 with the two trend-setting trade shows in Las Vegas; CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and now recently also KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show). Are we heading back to more colorful products? Well, maybe not colorful in the truly sparkling sense of the word \u2013 but modern colors that take their place next to the prevailing stainless steel definitely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, green was visible in most of the booths at KBIS, but as one experienced white goods person said at the time: \u201dI can tell you that green was always the slowest selling color, unless it was for a pool table.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there were plenty of variants with green elements at this year's fair - but mostly in versions with a mix of blue and gray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, updated variations of the previous green colors are in effect. As in this example (see image above), where KitchenAid launched new colors for its larger appliances. This matte green\/gray\/blue color along with updated brass handles really stood out and was praised as a fine example of this year's color trend by visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If anyone wants to book the next KBIS show now, the 2026 show will take place February 17-19 in Orlando.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SDA trendsetting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small domestic appliances (SDA) are more often introduced with a wider range of different colours on their products than their larger cousins (white goods). For SDA, colour creativity seems to have no limits and this year the trend towards greenish-blue variants seems to be driven strongly by these product categories and is really prominent \u2013 preferably also in a matt finish. Here are some examples of trend-setting products from Smeg\u2019s product range:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This color variant of the toaster, espresso machine and more SMEG products is called EMERALD GREEN and is available for sale in Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sea inspires<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MoccaMaster is also promoting \u201dthe blue\/green color of the year\u201d with its OCEAN \u2013 a color inspired by the sea. And writes that \u201dOCEAN is a little more than just a<\/em> color. It is said to embody calm, harmony and the natural beauty of the ocean \u2013 an invitation to slow down and enjoy the moment. Inspired by the calm of ocean waves, this deep shade elevates any space.\u201d.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And with such a beautiful justification, every viewer understands that it is a popular color choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is this year's color also butter?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have also caught wind that KitchenAid is traditionally launching the "Color of the Year 2025" for its iconic Artisan kitchen machine for the seventh year in a row - that color is buttery yellow and is therefore called BUTTER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The warm buttery yellow hue is sure to evoke memories of cozy moments in the kitchen and capture the nostalgia of cooking together. According to KitchenAid, the color reflects global trends, and the idea is that it will create a beautiful eye-catcher in bright, Scandinavian homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recent \u201dcolors of the year\u201d from KitchenAid have been: 2024: Blue Salt (light blue) 2023: Hibiscus (pink) 2022: Beetroot (dark purple) 2021: Honey (orange)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ocean blue or butter yellow on the larger appliances?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The richness of color radiates in many directions from the industry's smaller household appliances, but will we see a rising colorful trend for larger appliances in the future, as a "revival" of the colorful fireworks of the 1990s?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
