These are divided into 2,136,854 apartments in single-family houses, 2,756,647 apartments in apartment buildings, 289,047 in special housing (e.g. retirement homes, student housing) and 78,328 in other buildings. Of the country&#039;s 290 municipalities, rental property dominates in 261, and in 10 of these, rental property is the only form of tenure in apartment buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Most tenant-owned apartments in metropolitan municipalities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only 29 municipalities have more tenant-owned apartments than rental apartments. Over half of these are in Stockholm County. Lomma has the largest proportion of tenant-owned apartments (85 percent), followed by T\u00e4by (84 percent) and Vallentuna (80 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Holiday home<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to permanent residences in Sweden, there are a large number of holiday homes. Officially, there are approximately&nbsp;<strong>612 000<\/strong>&nbsp;holiday homes in Sweden. But according to a new study, significantly more properties are used as holiday homes \u2013 without being counted in the statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"457\" height=\"257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/fritidshus.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1542050\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/fritidshus.jpg 457w, https:\/\/www.applia-sverige.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/fritidshus-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Holiday homes in the form of combined mobile homes and apartments are significantly more common than traditional holiday homes in some areas.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of holiday homes in the northern interior of Sweden, for example, is significantly higher than statistics show, reveals a survey from Ume\u00e5 University. Many caravans with extended single-family homes and apartments are used here as holiday homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Appliances in all these homes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Single-family homes have the highest level of appliances \u2013 up to 9-10 appliances are not uncommon in a villa (fridge, freezer, hob, oven, dishwasher, extractor fan, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer). Tenancies are generally equipped with a slightly smaller number of appliances, where, for example, the shared laundry room replaces the private washing machine. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can also see an ongoing trend that holiday homes are being equipped with more and more advanced appliances to a greater extent than before. This also applies to caravans and motorhomes!
