The June figures for the industry's sell-in values in Sweden show an improvement compared to the same month last year. However, the accumulated values (YTD) during the first half of the year still do not reach the corresponding half of 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally an industry month with green numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n

Looking back at the first half of the year, it is clear that the first three months were close to the previous year's level, but both April and May then pulled down the industry figures compared to 2024. Then positive figures came in June. This gives a half-year result that is 5.1 % over the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason for the decline compared to the previous half-year is the weak economic situation in Sweden, which looks set to persist. In June, most of SCB's indicators were in a kind of 'recessionary state'. This includes the indicators for household consumption and retail trade in durable goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Favorable for larger appliances<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For major domestic appliances (MDA), Appstat reports a positive monthly figure for June, up 6.9 percent. All product segments (except refrigeration products) show positive figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month we were also reached by the news that the use of the ROT deduction has increased sharply in recent months after the government on May 12 increased the ROT deduction from 30 to 50 percent. The desired effect was to boost the crisis-ridden construction industry, which has had tough years behind it. Last year, over 2,000 construction companies went bankrupt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ROT deduction has an effect<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

And it had a direct effect \u2013 already in May, ROT deductions increased by 16 percent and are expected to increase even more during the rest of the year. There will certainly be a \u201dROT rush\u201d in the autumn and just before the turn of the year, when the temporary increase in the ROT deduction ends. This will give positive signals to the sales of white goods in the renovation and modernization projects that will be carried out in villas and condominiums all over Sweden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation for household appliances (SDA) improves slightly<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

For household appliances (SDA \u2013 Small Domestic Appliances), the first half of 2025 ended with a value outcome of minus 9 percent. June's cautiously positive outcome of +1.5 percent improved the accumulated figure slightly from last month's (May) minus 11 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two product categories within the SDA segment that stand out positively during the first half of the year are a) kettles and b) kitchen appliances\/assistants, mainly with a capacity <6 liters. The \u201dironing\u201d category has fared worse, accumulating a rather flat result of minus 13.9 percent for the first six months of this year.        <\/p>\n\n\n
