At the end of 2025, the number of households in Sweden amounted to just over five million, a total of 5,002,600. This represents an increase of approximately 30,600 households compared to the previous year, which corresponds to a growth of just under one percent. The most common form of housing was single-family homes with ownership rights, where 38 percent of households lived. This was followed by rental apartments in apartment buildings, which accounted for 29 percent, while 21 percent lived in tenant-owned apartments.
