El-kretsen's sustainability report is now presented

The Swedish Electricity Board has presented its sustainability report for the 2021 financial year. Despite another different year in the wake of the pandemic, the collection of electrical waste and batteries has not been affected to any great extent.

El-kretsen, with the mission of supporting companies in fulfilling their producer responsibility through a nationwide collection system, compiles an annual sustainability report on its operations. Now that the report for the 2021 financial year is being presented, it says Marten Sundin, El-kretsen in a comment to APPLiAnytt:

”"The continued turbulent and unusual situation that the pandemic has put society in has not significantly affected the collection or handling of electrical waste and batteries. Now we are approaching the summer months and we expect extra pressure on collection."”

The collection is divided into different fractions and a total of 138,749 tons were collected in 2021 (compared to 155,721 tons the year before).

Fractions for collection 2020 2021
Miscellaneous electronics 84,512 tons 68,208 tons
 Fridge & freezer 28,120 tons 28,474 tons
White goods 36,017 tons 35,051 tons
 Batteries 3,460 tons 3,547 tons
Low energy bulbs and fluorescent tubes 1,813 tons 1,716 tons
LED and incandescent bulbs 616 tons 537 tons
 Other/professional electronics 1,183 tons 1,214 tons
Total 155,721 tons 138,749 tons

”"El-Kretsen's work to take care of the resources found in electrical waste continues. Approximately 75 percent of everything we have collected has been turned into new material," says Mårten Sundin, El-Kretsen.

You can read more about what the materials consist of and how the development is being continued under Statistics in this year's sustainability report.
