Response to consultation – On economic instruments for a more circular economy

The investigation remains in the concept of waste, which we believe is an outdated view. Today, these products are seen as a resource and, for example, Boliden sees that from 2030, the majority of their precious metals will come from WEEE, where our industry is one of the major players. Otherwise, APPLiA limits its comments to the investigation to the parts relating to the chemicals tax.

As stated by, among others, the Swedish Tax Agency and the Swedish Chemicals Inspectorate, together with a number of actors from the business community, the investigation criticizes the design of the chemicals tax. APPLiA supports this criticism as the tax hits heavier electronic products such as refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers particularly hard.
