Good Design Award 2024: Eight Smeg products honored by Chicago Athenaeum

Breaking new ground in innovation and design is the goal of the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, which for over 70 years has celebrated contemporary design excellence through Good Design Award.

Eight Smeg products The nominees for the 2024 edition stood out among the competition, not only for their refined aesthetics but also for their functionality and identity – two key criteria for design excellence.

The collaboration between Smeg and the studio deepdesign®, led by Raffaella Mangiarotti and Matteo Bazzicalupo, celebrates its 10th anniversary with the collection of small household appliances. It began with the iconic 50's Style, known for its soft colors and rounded shapes, and has been further developed into the modern and elegant series Collection.

The semi–professional espresso machine EMC02, entirely made in Italy, represents the Collezione series with its modern features and professional look, specially designed for true coffee enthusiasts. In the same aesthetic line, the innovative portable induction hob is also included PIC01, which was awarded for its unique design that combines lightness, practicality and elegance in a versatile product. Tradition and innovation, which always harmoniously coexist in Smeg products, also characterize the kitchen scale KSF01, both analog and digital, which is one of the latest additions to the 50s series.

Among the award-winning appliances, ISOLATE-project out, where technology and design shape new horizons: a collection of sophisticated induction hobs and hoods, created in collaboration with Stefano Boeri Interiors. The project, presented at the 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile 2024, was praised for the unique features of the products, including a induction hob with integrated fan and LED-illuminated frame, a 180 cm wide ceiling-mounted fan with a glass panel, and a light rail that functions both as separate lighting or together with the fan.

As proof of Smeg's commitment to creating high-tech and innovative products, two products designed for home use but with professional features were awarded. SBC4604WNR blast chiller which, with its professional standard, is a key product for preserve food, prevent bacterial growth and maintain flavor, texture and nutritional value.

During the Salone del Mobile 2024, the new refrigerator was also presented Dolomite for the first time. Made in Italy, Dolomite combines advanced technology with optimal cooling and innovative solutions which extends the shelf life and quality of food. This state-of-the-art refrigerator series sets a new standard for durability, functionality and premium design.
