The industry is not yet at the same level as last year

September was the month with the highest turnover in 2025 for companies in the industry so far, but still not quite reaching last year's level.

Better momentum in the market but last year still not reached

Three quarters of 2025 are now history and there are still a few percentage points missing from last year's outcome (-3.2 % in value terms). This corresponds to a 4.2 percent decline in volume (not in the graph above).

In 2025, it is clear that sustainability can no longer just be a competitive advantage – it is now a requirement. Consumers in Sweden are very environmentally conscious and prioritize energy-efficient appliances. The increased consumer interest is driving manufacturers to develop products with lower energy consumption, recyclable materials and longer durability. Circular economy and the ability to repair and upgrade appliances have become important factors in purchasing decisions.

The appliances are included…

For major appliances (MDA), the value development so far this year is almost on par with last year (-0.2 %). In terms of volume, the development is even marginally better than last year (+0.2 % – not in the chart above).

Now the final sprint awaits the temporary increase in the ROT grant until the end of the year, when the conditions for the grant return to what was valid previously. This will provide temporary positive impulses to market development during the fourth quarter of this year through a larger number of kitchen and laundry renovations.

Household appliances continue to lose value

After a really weak August, the market for small household appliances (SDA) recovered somewhat during September, but is essentially well behind last year (-11.3 %) in value terms and we can now hope for good sales for the autumn's big campaigns with "Black month/week/Thursday".
