ARN: Fault in portable AC – compensation for product fault?

The customer purchased a portable AC online for SEK 4,618 with a heating function, which was delivered in May 2021. The next day, the customer discovered that the product had no heating function and filed a complaint.

 

The product was replaced in June 2021 but the new product had the same defect. The customer is requesting compensation of SEK 5,000 (SEK 1,000 for the first defective product, SEK 1,500 for the product not having a heating function and SEK 2,500 for the floor being scratched during the replacement).

The seller has offered the customer a price reduction of 20 % as the product lacks a heating function or a refund of the product. The seller does not believe that they damaged the floor during the exchange.

ARN finds from the documents in the case that the seller made a reasonable offer to the customer regarding the defect in the product and recommends that the customer accept the offer, and that it is not possible to determine from the documents in the case how the damage to the floor occurred. ARN rejects the customer's claim.
