Usage and installation instructions an environmental problem?

For every product sold today, around 30 instruction manuals are shipped with it, as global trade cannot ensure which market each individual product will end up in. This means that instruction manuals for several possible languages are included with the product unnecessarily.

APPLiA is in dialogue with the Swedish Consumer Agency and APPLiA Europe has raised the issue within the EU.

To some extent, manufacturers can already today only include safety instructions with the product and refer to digital user and installation instructions. In the future, we may see more products that ship with a USB stick, a QR code or refer in their safety instructions to a website where the user instructions are available in their entirety instead of shipping with paper user instructions.

It can often look like this (see picture).
