De'Longhi has presented the sustainability manifesto "Transforming with Integrity"”
On November 1, De'Longhi presented the new sustainability manifesto "Transforming with integrity", which explains De'Longhi's sustainability work, motives and mission through three focus areas that the company wants to be involved in and influence.
One of the three focus areas for sustainability is the coffee sector, where De'Longhi wants to raise awareness of the challenges facing the sector. De'Longhi aims to contribute to the wider coffee sector by preserving and protecting the supply of quality coffee, maintaining the growing environment for coffee farmers and improving the livelihoods of coffee farmers, the company states.
The first step in the work is to introduce two new strategic partners; World Coffee Research (WCR) and Slow Food Coffee Coalition (SFCC). By drawing on the expertise of the organizations, the partnership contributes to a decisive step in the brand's sustainability work and the De'Longhi Group's sustainability strategy. With the new collaborations, the company will be better equipped to support coffee production both within its own ranks and globally, but also to support consumers in being able to make their own conscious and responsible choices when it comes to coffee.
– As a manufacturer of coffee machines, it is our responsibility to protect the people and processes that are fundamental to our business, while connecting consumers closer to the understanding behind their coffee. We are pleased to collaborate with two renowned organizations as we strive to strengthen and transform the coffee sector of the future and give our customers more transparency, says Ulrika Ekelund, Marketing Director for De'Longhi Scandinavia.
“We are excited and proud that De'Longhi, the global leader in espresso and coffee machines, is now partnering with leaders in the global coffee industry to drive science-based agricultural solutions to rapidly secure a diverse and sustainable supply of quality coffee today and for generations to come with WCR,” said Vern Long, CEO of the World Coffee Coalition.
“Both SFCC and De'Longhi recognize the urgent need to protect the environment, producers and the world's most consumed beverage. We are delighted to be working with De'Longhi, a key member of the coffee value chain with great influence in the sector. The company's efforts and willingness to collaborate will make it possible to improve the supply, traceability and demand for good, clean and fair quality coffee,” says Emanuele Dughera, coordinator of the Slow Food Coffee Coalition.
The new coalition's progress can be followed via De'Longhi's website. Coffee Lounge. The website was launched in early 2022 for educational purposes to give consumers access to detailed information about the company's coffee and network of local roasters around the world.
