Report APPLiA's autumn meeting

November 9th was an important day for APPLiA, as we proudly held a successful autumn meeting. The morning kicked off with a dynamic and well-received training in public procurement, which gave participants valuable insights and tools to succeed in the market.

Participants were then treated to an insightful presentation by GfK, where we delved into the latest market statistics and discussed future market trends. The company's economist Bengt Lindqvist then took the stage with a detailed overview of the economic landscape, including interest rates, inflation and what the future holds for our industry.

New Members and Important Changes

Our formal meeting was filled with important moments, including a bylaw amendment to welcome new members from the commercial laundry and dishwashing sector, marking a new era for APPLiA. We were also pleased to welcome LG, our latest addition to the APPLiA family.

The discussion around our new statistical system APPSTAT and the active role APPLiA plays in the debate on the electronics tax were particularly rewarding. These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation and impact in the industry.

New EU proposal PPWR discussed in Brussels

A new proposal on packaging and packaging recycling/reuse (PPRW -Proposal Packaging and Packaging Waste) is currently being discussed in Brussels. APPLiA is fundamentally positive about changes that can create improvements in society and can reduce our environmental impact. But at the same time, we are actively pursuing an agenda that not only improves our environmental impact but also ensures the efficiency and safety of product transport.

The current proposal proposes standardized packaging even though products available for sale are not the same size. This in itself means that most APPLiA products will be transported unpackaged, which is of course not the best way to transport, as is clearly evident from this picture and movie. APPLiA EU is driving the issue at the European level to bring about a change that is both good for the environment and also secures products during transport. With our focus on both the environment and quality, APPLiA strives to secure a change that benefits everyone.
