A new law on consumer protection when purchasing – APPLiA's consultation response

In summary, regarding the consultation "A new law on consumer protection in purchases and certain other contracts" APPLiA is:

  • Positive about the Consumer Purchase Act being revised.
  • I would have liked to see the Distance Contracts Act become part of the Consumer Purchase Act.
  • Not entirely positive about an extension of the reversed burden of proof as it could mean that manufacturer warranties will cease.
  • Sees an increased risk of unjustified complaints when the consumer can avoid costs for products that have been used for up to 3 years and where it can mean that more products than today need to be recycled, which creates environmental consequences.
