Slow April for the industry

It is becoming very clear that the industry development will not be able to reach the previous year's record figures this year. However, compared to 2020, the figures up to April still look positive. The larger white goods are still keeping pace with last year, while the smaller household appliances are slowing down significantly.

The industry's total deliveries in the month of April were 10 percent below the outcome in April last year, which gives an annual outcome for the first four months of the year of 3 percent over the same period in 2021. But if we go further back and compare with the year 2020 instead, the industry's accumulated outcome is an increase of a full 10 percent.

White goods keep up the numbers

Sales of the major industry products (MDA – white goods) are basically equal to the record year 2021 during the first four months, despite the fact that the month of April showed a minus of 3.6 percent. It is primarily the segments ”cooling” and microwave ovens that are pulling down the result in the month, while the other product segments are increasing slightly compared to April 2021.

The household appliances (SDA) are struggling…

... against the record-high comparative figures from last year and in comparison shows a substantial decline in the month of almost 28 percent. All product segments within SDA 'contribute' to the negative figures this month, but it is the product segments "coffee machines" and "kitchen appliances" that have been hit the hardest. In the four-month figures, we still see a certain recovery with sales increases in the categories "hair care" and "oral care" including electric toothbrushes. Otherwise, the most negative figures are in the other SDA segments.
