Annual meeting with APPLiA
The annual meeting began with a talk on IT security and what preventive measures companies can create in their own companies to reduce the risk of intrusion, sabotage or kidnapping for ransom. The speakers were Caroline Forssblad and Lennart Kanth from Omega Point who shared their experiences and security measures.
We then informed our members about last year's major events for the organization. If you missed the annual meeting, below is a brief summary of the office's work.
In 2022, APPLiA acquired Branschkansliets Marknadsinformation AB (BMAB), a company that conducts market statistics. The purchase was made in connection with the bankruptcy of the previous owners, Branschkansliets. The acquisition of BMAB, where APPLiA's member companies were the absolute largest customers, was at that time a strategic business decision by the board and is an important source of knowledge as we, together with our Nordic sister organizations, build a new Nordic statistics system that is expected to be in place in January 2024. The purchase also took over market statistics for several other industries, where APPLiA's ambition is to also give these industries access to a non-profit system for statistics, just as APPLiA has guaranteed this in its ownership of El-Kretsen for other industry associations.
Service activities for individual members will continue to be a central part, with the XPOS complaints system being one of the cornerstones, along with training and advice for individual companies in complaints and legal matters.
Increased communication focus
During the autumn, the office developed a new communications strategy for APPLiA Sweden. The strategy has resulted in, among other things, a new publication frequency and content plan for APPLiAnytt and will soon also result in a new website with even more focus on member benefits and industry coverage.
Finally, information was provided about the measures where we are continuously working with politicians and civil servants but have not yet achieved success on issues such as the electronics tax and RUT deductions.
