Housing starts in multi-family buildings increase (+14%)

Housing starts in single-family homes are decreasing (-26%)

This gives a total increase in the number of new housing starts in Sweden by 4 % compared to the first quarter of 2025. All in all, 6,800 residential apartments were started.

Statistics Sweden, which presented the figures this week, writes:

”"Of the residential apartments started There are 5,200 in apartment buildings including special housing. This is 14 percent more compared to the first quarter of 2025. Of those started, approximately 550 are special housing. Single-family home construction has decreased, 1,050 residential apartments in single-family homes were started during the quarter, which is 26 percent fewer than during the same period in 2025.
