Electric grills for large and small

For most people, the choice has traditionally been between charcoal or gas when it comes to purchasing a grill – but now there are electric grills that can completely replace the more traditional variants for those who want to avoid the hassle of charcoal or briquettes or the uncertainty of whether the gas will run out during grilling. In addition, electric grills can be used practically anywhere, even indoors.

Electric grills are available in a wide variety of varieties, in several price ranges, and APPLiAnytt lists some of them here.

Otto Wilde

Exactly one year ago, Miele acquired 75.1 percent of the shares in the premium grill specialist Otto Wilde and the common goal is to offer a high-quality and balanced range of outdoor lifestyle products to the most discerning of consumers. Founded in 2015 in Düsseldorf, Germany, Otto Wilde offers a modular gas grill platform, called the G32, which can be expanded into a complete outdoor kitchen.

Otto Wilde also has a so-called salamander, called OFB, in its range, where the heat comes from above and it is available in both gas and electric versions – and it can reach temperatures of almost 900 degrees. The grill is made of stainless steel, with cast iron grill grates with stepless height adjustment in two of the three available variants.

Niklas Mair, CEO Miele Sweden, says that Miele is not involved in the sale of Otto Wilde in Sweden/the Nordics today, and what it will look like in the future is not something they currently have information about.

Severin

Another German company, namely Severin, offers no less than eleven models of electric grills that can provide a temperature of 500 degrees, ranging from small table grills to larger models with app control, lids and grill carts.

”"The premium models are called Sevo and there are six different variants in the series. Forget all about charcoal and gas, it's an electric grill you should have if you want to be environmentally conscious and be at the forefront - become the grill king among the neighbors thanks to the precise heat that you can get with the electric grill," Severin writes on his website.

The top model Sevo Smart Control GT (GTS with grill trolley included) is equipped with dual, integrated roasting thermometers that show how hot the meat is on the OLED display. Heating from 0-500°C is stated to take ten minutes. If you download the Severin app, you can control the electric grill from your mobile and, for example, lower the temperature, check the roasting thermometer or start the timer.

OBH Nordica

OBH Nordica Optigrill is available in seven variants, of which the flagship is the new Optigrill Elite. OBH Nordica explains on its website that OptiGrill is a unique innovation that, through advanced technology, provides a perfect grilling result every time. It is equipped with a sensor that automatically reads the thickness of the meat and then adjusts the time and temperature accordingly.

The indicator shows the degree of cooking of the meat, from rare to well done. With twelve cooking programs and the option of manual mode, you can grill everything from meat, salmon and chicken to asparagus and halloumi. The grill plates with non-stick coating are removable and dishwasher safe.

Electrolux

Electrolux offers an electric table grill called Easygrill that has one-third cooking surface and two-thirds grilling surface. The plate is dishwasher safe and the grill has a thermostat with five temperature selectors and a light that indicates heat.

Electrolux writes on its website that a small, electric table grill lets you experience the taste of grilled food in summer and winter and is just as suitable indoors as on the balcony.

Grill thermometer

One thing that really makes grilling easier is a grill thermometer, and if you have a grill that doesn't have one, you can of course add one. The range of grill thermometers is large and ranges from simpler models with a cord that cost a couple of hundred kroner to wireless models with all sorts of functions that cost ten times as much.

An example of the latter is Meater Block which consists of four wireless thermometers that make it easy to cook several pieces of meat at the same time. There is also a version with just one thermometer. When the meat is ready, you will receive a notification, via the app or the standalone OLED screen and speakers. You can connect using either Bluetooth or WiFi and the thermometers have dual sensors, which means they measure the temperature both inside and around the meat.
