Elon Expo 2022 – Morning

APPLiAnytt visited Elon Expo 2022 on Thursday, June 2, and in the morning we visited the stands of Cylinda, Whirlpool, Franke, Grundig and Miele.

Axel Tesh, Cylinda, who is pictured above running a raffle at Cylinda's booth at Elon Expo 2022, said that one of the product areas they focused on during the fair was the new clothesline, with a new series of washing machines and dryers.

The new machines are 95 percent recyclable, and PET bottles are used in the production of fronts and more, with sustainability and circularity in mind.

The auto-dosing works with all types of liquid detergent, and if you turn off the auto-dosing function, you can also use washing powder if you want.

Axel Tesh said that two of the new washing machines have Energy Class A (the new energy label) and that the new series of dryers includes both condenser dryers and dryers with heat pumps - the trend is towards heat pumps instead of condensation on dryers, but condensation continues to sell well because they are both cheaper and faster.

Conny Thelberg, Director Cylinda, said that he was impressed that every draw at Cylinda's booth was full – so many people are interested in the company's products.

Whirlpool

Pirkka Savilahti, Whirlpool, said that what is on display at the stand at Elon Expo 2022 is the existing range. The fact that not a lot of new products were presented at the fair is because new launches have been moved to 2023 due to the pandemic – a fact that applies to many suppliers.

Frank

Klas Grönwall, Franke, showed off new ”Matt Black” range hoods with different fan inserts, which are also available in any color. They are available as wall-mounted or free-hanging for kitchen islands. Another black novelty on the stand was Fragranit+ hoods, with or without holes for mixers, made of 80 percent quartz and 20 percent binder, which provides a very durable surface. Fragranit is the fourth hardest material in the world, explained Klas Grönwall.

The Franke stand also featured the company's 83 cm induction hob with built-in fan "Mythos 2gether", with a carbon filter that can be cleaned six to eight times before needing to be replaced.

Thorough

At Grundig's stand, you were met with a strong focus on the environment, with, for example, ovens where the plastic parts are made from fishing nets, washing machines and dryers where the drums are made from PET bottles (the latest figure is that 60 million PET bottles have been used in manufacturing so far) and various machines where the plastic parts in the machines are made from recycled material.

Johan Adamsson, Grundig, said that next year there will be cooling products where the fan is made of cornstarch and the egg trays are made of eggshells.

Grundig's big news this year – the world's first washing machine with an integrated microfiber filter – was not on the stand, however, and that's because it's not available at Elon yet. At the time of writing, it's sold in Sweden via Power (i.e. online but not in stores) and according to Grundig, it should be available in stores at Elgiganten in Sweden under the Beko brand, but when I looked for it on Elgiganten's website today, I couldn't find it...

Miele

At Miele's stand, one of the focus products was the new, bagless vacuum cleaner Boost, which is available in three variants – PowerLine, Parquet and Cat & Dog.

Annette Alvestad, Miele, explained that Miele has previously had bagless vacuum cleaners in its range, but that the new Boost is smaller and lighter than previous models.
