Right to user manual in Swedish
A consumer purchased a product in a store. Nowhere did it appear that the product was sold without a Swedish instruction manual, which the consumer discovered when he unpacked the product. The consumer wants to cancel the purchase, as he does not believe he can understand all the benefits of the product and has difficulty absorbing the information in another language.
The company has noted that this product is not normally sold on the Swedish market and that therefore there is no instruction manual in Swedish available. Furthermore, the company believes that it is unreasonable to cancel the purchase due to the lack of an instruction manual, but believes that it may be justified by a price reduction.
ARN has determined that a product must be followed by the instructions needed for its assembly, storage, use and care. A product that does not have Swedish instructions for use is therefore to be considered defective when sold on the Swedish market. ARN believes that cancellation is not an unreasonable requirement and therefore approves the consumer's claim.
