Cooling experiences and comfort in nature

When the summer heat hits, there's nothing wrong with cooling experiences in the form of homemade ice cream in and around the home. And the many who choose to vacation in nature, in various ways, today have a lot of products to choose from that help make life a little easier and tastier.

Ice cream machines come in a variety of designs, including freestanding models (like the ones we mentioned in the article ”Everything for the garden party” recently) and partly as accessories for kitchen appliances (like the one we wrote about in the article ”Elon Expo 2022 – Afternoon”).

Two new ice cream accessories

In June this year, KitchenAid launched two new ice cream accessories for its kitchen machine. The first is an updated and improved ice cream maker that will make it easier and more fun than ever to make delicious and creamy ice cream in just 30 minutes. The second accessory, Shave Ice, is launched as a modern and different way to make refreshing ice cream from shaved ice, where everyone composes their own portion with fruit, berries, juice concentrate and toppings.

”"The great thing about ice cream is that there is a taste for everyone, and a five-year-old's idea can be just as good as their parents'. Ice cream creates joy all year round, but is absolutely magical on a hot summer day. That's why we're happy to be able to make it an integral part of the kitchen," says KitchenAid's Nordic manager Sarah Paltschik.

KitchenAid has also broadened its range with a new espresso machine and a coffee grinder that automatically adjusts the grind size for both espresso and drip coffee.

”In the Nordics, we love coffee and Nordics are actually the world’s biggest coffee drinkers – but it has to be good coffee. Whether you’re an espresso or cappuccino enthusiast, KitchenAid’s new espresso machine gives you the opportunity to brew an authentic espresso at home. For KitchenAid, it’s an important step to enter the espresso market with what we see as a perfect addition to our existing product portfolio,” says Sarah Paltschik.

Swedish Dometic operates in the three categories Home, Professional and Outdoor. If you visit their website www.dometic.com links directly to the main page for the latter category, and the heading ”Staycation for the family – Add comfort to your outdoor adventure”. The Outdoor range includes coolers, inflatable tents, mugs and bottles, and products for mobile cooking.

Dometic states that you don't have to be an experienced camper to enjoy a relaxing staycation with your family, and that the company has been helping families create comfortable solutions for outdoor activities for many years. Even if you're far from the nearest restaurant, you can enjoy delicious meals and cold drinks…

Dometic offers electric cool boxes, in thermoelectric, compressor or absorption options, and ice bins which are non-powered cool boxes with highly effective insulation.

Dometic has just over 40 coolers in its range, ranging in price from around one thousand to 15,000 kronor, and the latest launch in this area is a product line of passive coolers – Patrol – which are colorful and robust, and designed for outdoor adventures in Europe. Patrol is available in sizes 20, 35 and 55 liters (weight 8, 11.7 and 15 kg respectively).

Around the same time as the launch of the Patrol, Dometic introduced a new member of the Dometic CFX3 series, the latest generation of premium portable coolers. The CFX3 25 (with a volume of 25 liters and a weight of 12.7 kg) is the smallest model, designed for use in smaller vehicles or compact spaces. Bob – for the luxury camper

Founded in France in 2016, Daan Tech aims to design, manufacture and sell a range of devices and services to address the biggest challenges of the 21st century. The company's first product is the Bob mini dishwasher, which it calls the world's most advanced, autonomous and eco-friendly dishwasher.

Bob has an integrated water tank and can be used without the need for water connection – you simply fill it with a bottle or similar. Bob can therefore be used wherever there is a 230 V electrical outlet, for example in a motorhome or boat (using a 12 V converter when not connected to the mains).

Bob is 34 cm wide, 49 cm high and deep and weighs 10.9 kg. The water tank holds 3.9 liters, the machine has five washing programs (30-70 degrees) and the express program takes 20 minutes. Bob holds four plates (max. 29 cm diameter), four glasses, two bowls, two mugs, a small frying pan and cutlery – equivalent to daily use for two people. And Bob automatically opens the door at the end of the program, for natural – and non-energy-intensive – drying.

The machine can be connected to the water supply with an accessory, and the tap water is connected to the drain or to a can if there is no drain.

Premium coffee in the open air

Sure, when you're sailing, hiking, etc., you can switch from the coffee you usually drink at home to instant coffee, but you don't have to. Today, there is a fairly large selection of mobile coffee machines available that require neither an electrical cord nor batteries – all you need is boiling water and coffee.

An example of a manufacturer of mobile coffee machines is Wacaco, which was founded in 2013 in Hong Kong, and their range includes three small espresso machines.

Minipresso is the company's first portable espresso machine, and it has dimensions of 175x70x60 mm and a weight of 360 g. It holds 8 g of coffee and a maximum of 70 ml of water, and by hand pumping a pressure of 8 bar is achieved.

Nanopresso is a little smaller (156x71x62 mm and weighs 336 g) and also holds 8 g of coffee (max. 80 ml of water) but here you reach 18 bars of pressure.

Picopresso is the company's latest flagship model, and besides being even smaller (106x78x71 mm and weighing 350 g), the big difference is that you can make a double espresso, as it holds 18 g of coffee.

If you're hardcore, you buy a small, manual grinder so you can carry beans with you (as they don't age nearly as quickly as ground coffee does) and if you're hardcore deluxe, you also buy a portable scale to weigh out the exact amount of coffee for each espresso.

If you are flexible, you can instead buy a Nespresso adapter, which is available as an accessory for Nanopresso but not for Picopresso – Minipresso is available in different versions, for ground beans or for capsules.
