Hello Marcus Isgren, chairman and head of ARN, can you tell us about your business?
The Swedish Consumer Complaints Board (ARN) decides cases where consumers are in dispute with companies. APPLiAnytt had a chat with Marcus Isgren, chairman and head of ARN, about how a case is raised, what the statistics look like for cases in the electronics industry and memorable cases.
APPLiA and ARN
Within our industry segment, approximately 8,000,000 household appliances are sold annually. ARN examines cases where consumers complain during the 3-year complaint period (in accordance with the KKL) but also cases where the consumer has received an extended warranty. In itself, this means that approximately 25,000,000 - 30,000,000 products each year could become an ARN case.
Registered with ARN? Consider the following!
ARN is a committee consisting of 5 people. The judge who presides over the hearing has at least appellate court expertise. The rest of the committee consists of 2 business representatives and 2 consumer representatives. 2-4 of these people are often lawyers, but must also have expertise in their product area. APPLiA's representatives in ARN are Kent Oderud and Matts Spångberg.
